Self-organizing is fundamentally different
The Future of Work paradigm is about organizing work in a fundamentally different way. This new paradigm has many aspects that are different from the past: teams organize the way they get to results, collaborators need to understand where they are in getting those results, teams change all the time and include outsiders like consultants or expert advisors. Just to name a few fundamental differences. Watch a flock of birds traveling to their destination, and you understand how different they function, compared to the classic almost-military approach of a hierarchic organization.
All corporate IT systems are designed for the past
The point is that all IT systems are designed for classic hierarchies. They ensure the top gets the info, so they can stear and control. The whole organization, in the meantime, uses systems to get their little part of the job done, and report back to the top. You cannot get a triangle into a circular hole. Everyone knows that. Yet everyone keeps trying to model a dynamic set of ever-changing circles into a rigid triangular IT system, that is made to keep strangers outside.
Flxion embedded the future way of working
Our greenfield venture Flxion tackles just that. It is designed to support ever-changing circles that consist of a mixture of internal collaborators and external experts. They have designed software that allows leaders to design their organization, and run it – or rather, have the team members run it in order to obtain results. Flxion is aiming at mid-sized services companies in the first place, since they are closest to the self-steering way of organizing work. Also associations and federations are a great match to Flxion. But, in principle, every organization that needs people to contribute rather than execute, will adore Flxion as their main management application.
